Weld integrity has always been an important materials issue, especially in applications, involving arduous loading conditions, including off-road vehicles, mining, aerospace, pipelines and process plant. Considerable progress has been made in improving the performance of existing materials and structures. This has been achieved by developing advanced technology solutions that could meet the requirements of increasingly demanding applications and severe operating conditions. As there is a strong demand for creating light-weight materials and structures, with an aim to reduce the carbon footprint of materials and processes, the integrity of welded joints has become a critical materials and design issue in developing reliable, high performance components and structures.
This one day event, open to everyone, brings together experts and pioneers from both industry and academia, with the aim of capturing the state-of-art and issues in weld integrity, through presentations and discussions. The programme will be an ideal opportunity for sharing information on new research and development. It will also provide a useful forum for networking and gaining an insight into this important technical area.
